I agree with a few comments here. I don't see 'ammo crates'. 7 kind of looks like an 'ammo clip' for a futuristic gun. But for a crate, you might expect someone or something to carry and open them easily, I don't see handles or a way for these to be easily opened to access the ammo. Cool designs for whatever they are...lol!
These are all awesome designs, but they don't look like any sort of ammunition case. Maybe like, an energy weapon recharger? But even that's iffy, I'd have to see some sort of common design language between the weapon and these. Fucking cool looking, either way!
They def look like techy doodads, but I begrudgingly agree that they don't read as ammo pick ups. Still, lots of nice little details to read, and good rest areas in the design. As for ammo designs, maybe think towards parts that look like the the male end of a plug, for power transfer? That, or a part of the object that looks like it would be dispensing said ammo type. The hard part about future tech is that it needs an exceedingly large foot in the realm of current tech for our brains to make the association.
Yea, well said. I approached these as more just an exercise in shape division. I think if I were to design with the ammo crate thing more in mind I would bring in the ideas you mentioned. Thanks for commenting!
Errr.. I thought it were consoles too, btw they are all looking quite the same to me now. I think it would be better if they had some distinct features for the player to easily tell what is what... different color for example
